Discover Newport, the official visitor’s center for nine coastal towns, helped celebrate October’s Arts & Humanities month by featuring the Arts & Cultural Alliance. Terry Dickinson, ACA President, talked about the importance of the arts in attracting tourism. Paul Carroll, the City of Newport’s Economic Director, reinforced that idea, not only as an economic driver, but also as cultural capitol.
Art was on display everywhere. The reining Ms. Rhode Island, Jessica Marfeo, entertained the audience with song; ACA Board Members Lois Vaughan and Aaron Cody with their musical stylings; and Peter Turner with his live painting of the site of the event, the historic Vanderbilt Grace Hotel.
