Arts Behind the Scenes: Newport Preservation Society Conservation Lab

Thursday, January 23, 2014: The Inaugural Arts Behind the Scenes took place at The Preservation Society of Newport County’s Conservation Lab.

Jeff Moore, the Preservation Society’s Chief Conservator provided attendees with his almost detective-like research and analysis relating to the history and character of a gilded frame holding the painting of Sir Peter Lely’s Portrait of Anne of Ditchley. Jeff also gave a demonstration of the techniques involved in the application of gold gilding to a wood surface.

Following the presentation everyone enjoyed wine and cheese while continuing the dialogue with Jeff. A very successful first event for Arts Behind the Scenes!
