Meet Maureen Coleman, Jamestown Arts Center’s new Executive Director

Newport’s Arts and Cultural Alliance’s monthly networking event, Arts Around the Fire, continues at Salvation Café on Wednesday, February 19th from 6-8pm at the Post & Beam room at 140 Broadway in Newport.

The Alliance’s guest will be Maureen Coleman, Jamestown Arts Center’s new Executive Director. Knowledgeable about the Newport community from her tenure as Director of Development for the Norman Bird Sanctuary, Coleman started with JAC in February.

Meet Peter Bramante, New Executive Director of Island Moving Company, Newport’s Contemporary Ballet Company.

The Alliance’s guest will be Peter Bramante, Island Moving Company’s new Executive Director.  Coming from a career in dance and arts management at the Arts & Business Council and FirstWorks, Bramante started with IMC at the start of the new year.

January 15 Arts Around the Fire

Newport’s Arts and Cultural Alliance’s monthly networking event, Arts Around the Fire, resumes this month at Salvation Café.

Last year, RISCA joined Arts Around the Fire as a part of their year-long strategic thinking and planning process to hear from the Newport arts and culture community.

Now, get a sneak preview at their draft Strategic Plan! Share your thoughts and feedback with Randy Rosenbaum, Executive Director; Todd Trebour, Organizations Program Director; and Mollie Flanagan, Individual Artists Program Director.

The Alliance’s guest will be Janaya Kizzie, Rhode Island Arts and Culture Research Fellow. The fellowship’s purpose is to deepen public appreciation for the contributions of artists, writers, performers, and cultural leaders connected to Rhode Island by composing and connecting Wikipedia articles. Come hear what she has discovered about RI’s cultural landscape.

October 16: Arts Around the Fire with Dr. Erik Greenberg, the new Director of Museums for the Newport Restoration Foundation

Newport’s Arts and Cultural Alliance’s monthly networking event, Arts Around the Fire, opens its season at Salvation Café on Wednesday, October 16th from 6-8pm at the Post & Beam room at 140 Broadway in Newport.

The Alliance’s guest will be Dr. Erik Greenberg, the new Director of Museums for the Newport Restoration Foundation. Greenberg is a public historian and museum professional. He was the Director of Education for the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles for nearly a decade. Join us to help him consider the question, “Who are the communities that make up Aquidneck Island, and how can our cultural institutions develop productive and lasting relationships with those communities?”

Newport’s Arts and Cultural Alliance’s monthly networking event, Arts Around the Fire, returns to Salvation Café on Wednesday, April 17th from 6-8pm at Salvation’s Post & Beam room at 140 Broadway in Newport.

The Alliance’s guest will be Andrew Long, Outreach Coordinator and Property Manager at the Newport Congregational Church, who will update the community on the ongoing revitalization if the historic church at Pelham and Spring Streets in Newport. The glorious space, with its important murals and windows by John LaFarge, is undergoing renovation and will be an exciting new venue for Newport’s cultural community.
