What is the Dominique Award?

The Dominique Award is presented annually to a community member from Newport County who embodies the spirit of Dominique Alfandre, the long time Newport resident, arts advocate, former president of Arts & Cultural Alliance and Executive Director of the Island Moving Company.

The Dom Award recipient is a champion for the arts, an inspiration to the arts community, and selfless promoter of the arts. The ACA Selection Committee searches out people who are committed to keeping the arts alive in our community, who has a collaborative approach and positive spirit.

We present an annual award to a person in our community who is dedicated to promoting the arts, arts initiatives and arts programs for the betterment of Newport County community. The award itself is created individually by local artists that is specific to the chosen recipient of the award so each Dominique award is unique and a treasured work.
