January 24th, 2013
The Arts & Cultural Alliance in collaboration with The Preservation Society of Newport County, will present “Social Networking for the Busy Artist,” an informational seminar, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from noon to 1 pm at The Preservation Society of Newport County, 424 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI. The workshop is free and open to practicing artists & craftspeople in Newport County. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

Artists today know that Social Media is an important part of an effective marketing plan, but think that they don’t have the time to invest in learning about Social Media much less actively engaging as a regular marketing practice. Join us on Wednesday, Jan. 30 to learn how it’s possible to use Social Media sites as efficient and effective marketing tools without using up your life to do it. Our speaker, Katie Dyer, will help arm you with the keys needed to reach out successfully as a managed part of your marketing time.

Katie Dyer is owner of CADEAUX du MONDE, an award winning online eclectic, green, fair trade international folk art gallery formerly located at 26 Mary Street, Newport, RI and established in 1987. Having always looked for innovative ways to market her folk art gallery, multicultural workshops and rental business over the 25 years she has been in business, Katie has been actively using Social Media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest as a business marketing tool. In addition to coordinating the Social Media marketing for all her business pursuits, she has expanded CADEAUX du MONDE’s business by offering Social Media training and management. In conjunction with local technology trainer, Robin Gardner of robinTime, she teaches monthly Social Media classes specifically designed for small business. CADEAUX du MONDE currently has a roster of small business clients including a number of galleries and arts related businesses. Her focus is on helping small businesses get their social media presence up, running and networked so that it is an easy to use, efficient and integral part of their overall marketing plan.
